The joy of a moment
It’s a beautiful day, the sun is shining, I’m feeling good, nobody can stop me now.
Queen, a great song. But how many people see that beautiful day, feel that beautiful day? In this western culture everything revolves around work. You study half of your life to get the education needed for a job. Then you work your ass off the other part of your life. Maybe after that you have some retirement to enjoy. But why can’t we enjoy a beautiful day as it is? After a long winter I loved the first sunrays on my face. Can I enjoy them longer than 10 minutes? No, I have to continue to study in a dark and cold building.
In this culture is almost no room for joy? Or is there?
Of course there is room to enjoy life! The key to this joy isn’t in the big things. If there is a ray of sunlight you got to be able to enjoy the moment. Because of the stressful environment a lot of people aren’t living in the present. They live in the future. And if you live in the future, you can’t enjoy the present. All people think of is what to do next, what to do in the next 5 minutes, what do to in the next hour, what do I have to do the next day? STOP, JUST STOP DOING THIS!
Please stop thinking ahead and enjoy that tasty sandwich your wife or husband (friend or girlfriend, mother or father) made for you this morning. It only takes 2 minutes of your time.
