Tale of happiness: One boy and one wolf
Once upon a time a young boy listened to a beautiful story told by his grandfather. His grandfather was a cherokee Indian, one of the wisest of his tribe. He told the boy the famous tale about the two wolves. His grandfather started talking about a battle that goes on inside all people.
He said, ‘My son, the battle is between two ‘wolves’ inside us all.
One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.
The other is good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.’
The young boy thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: ‘Which wolf wins?’
To which his grandfather smiled and replied: ‘The one you feed.’
This answer didn’t warm his heart, it blew his mind. The boy looked away and immediately came to notice this story was a magic one. Not because of the beautiful way his grandfather had passionately shared it with him, but because it carried a lesson along. He was an image-thinker, which meant he visualized every word that came to his mind. It didn’t matter whether he read the words or heard them. This story didn’t cross his mind at all, no, it inspired him by entering his heart. Love and happiness filled his body, mind and being at the same time. He witnessed the purity of freedom for the first time in his life…
This experience was so strong that he would never lose sight of the good wolf inside his heart again… After the insight he’d gratefully received, he climbed up the lap of his grandfather to fall asleep and share the same story with his beloved ones happily ever after…
