Are men really better drivers than women?

One of the most common discussions about men and women are about who’s the better driver. Well facts and figures don’t lie:  Women were involved in 5.7 crashes per million miles driven. Men, on the other hand, clocked up just 5.1 crashes per million miles. Also note that men drive an estimated 74 per cent more miles per year than women. Not only do women get into more crashes, they also drive a lot less miles than men. What also appears to be an interesting fact is that women have a lot more accidents with other women than men to men:...

Facts and figures: Spending time on the internet?

Internet is integrated in our lives. We can’t live a day without it. But how much time do we spend on the net? A new facts and figures: There are currently 2.4 billion of internet users worldwide. That is 34% of the entire world population. In December 1995 the internet was officially “opened” for the consumer. 0.4% of the world population was using the internet. 10 years later the percentage has increased to 15,7%. We are currently, 17 years later, at 34% percent. I guess we can safely assume that the internet is rapidly...

Cooking healthy pays off

Cooking has always been a hobby of mine. It is great to cook an awesome meal and be able to really enjoy it after some hard work. It is a goal I can achieve every day. I’m the kind of cook that appreciates tasteful food. I like to use a lot of spices (not too much), a good piece of meat and some vegetables and carbohydrates. I am the creator of some very tasty dishes that blow my tong palates away. However I don’t always go “all out” on my cooking. I don’t always feel creative and don’t have the energy to...

Why do we need sleep?

Sleeping is a everyday necessity. We humans need sleep to regain physical and mental energy. There are people who believe that an average person eats an average of 8 spiders a year in his/her sleep. However this is not true! It was a tryout of some researchers to see how people would interpret information from the internet. Well, the answer is quite obvious. So we don’t eat spiders in our sleep, but what do we do in our sleep? A new facts and figures coming up: How do humans sleep There are different stages of sleep that we go through...

Create your own luck

Luck: The chance happening of fortunate events. Everyone likes to be lucky. Being lucky is seen as an act of a higher power, you can’t create luck. Well, I am going to tell you how to increase the odds of being lucky and to become lucky yourself! I’ve always worked very, very hard, and the harder I worked, the luckier I got. – Alan Bond Everyone knows someone is his social contacts who is called “lucky.” I, for example, have a friend that always has an edge on things. Whenever we go to the casino, he’s the...

Does the sun make you happy?

Does the sun make us happy? My feeling says it does, but what are the Facts and Figures? There has been a lot of research about the negative effects of the sun. What kind of radiation is dangerous for us? The kinds of radiation that we “feel” are IR (Infrared) and UV (Ultraviolet). I’ll explain the 2 different radiations: IR IR light gives us a warm feeling. Our body has certain nerve-ends that make us feel the IR light warming up our body. The infrared light that is radiated from the sun isn’t damaging our body...

Problems have no value

Looking up to the sky I see one of the most beautiful sights I’ve ever seen: a sky full of stars… When looking at the sky, I am reminded that I am just a tiny little piece in this incredible large world. The universe is so big I can’t even imagine how small I am. The good thing about this big-to-small perspective is that I might not have to put a lot of energy in my smaller problems. If I am getting upset because my pizza is delivered cold, or because my coffee is too strong, I can always think about me being this tiny little...

Color your world

Color is a strong tool to strengthen or weaken emotions. Everywhere around us are colors. Most of these have direct influence on your emotions. And that’s exactly why it is so important to surround you with colors that have a positive effect on your mood. Let’s take a look at my bedroom: the walls are colored white and brown. White stands for feelings of peace and comfort. Brown brings the feelings of stability and security. These feelings are overall good emotions for sleeping, working and relaxing. Brown and white are just 2 examples...

Facts and figures: An introduction

I‘d like to talk to you about facts and figures The definition of a fact is: knowledge or information based on real occurrences. The definition of figures: An amount or value expressed in numbers. These two are measurable and overall proven in life. I’m a fact and figures kinda guy. I live by calculating odds of everything I do, to decide what my choices will be. I love to know every little detail of everything there is in this world. Need an example? All polar bears are left-handed. Are all facts and figures ever going to be...

Happiness is in little things

Happiness is in little things

It’s a beautiful day, the sun is shining, I’m feeling good, nobody can stop me now. Queen; a great song… However only a few people see that beautiful day or feel good. In this western culture everything revolves around working for money: The first half of your life you study your ass off to get the education needed for a job. The second part of your life you work to make enough money to live. If you are lucky you have some retirement to enjoy the last part of your life. Why can’t we enjoy a beautiful day? After a long winter I love...
